my 8 shot journey

On Monday 12th october 2009 I created my storyboard that i would then use to script my 8 shot journey on Wednesday 14th october 2009.

My story board started with the my actor who would complete the 8 shot journey starting in the college on a staircase i think that this shot did go well but that it could have had more of the stair case in the shot so that the viewer could get a feel for the background the actor was in front of.

The second shot was of the actor walking down a corridor towards a door, this shot was good as well because the shot wasn't too cluttered with other stuff in the foreground and background so this allowed the viewer to see only the important images in the footage.

The third shot was of the actor exiting through the college front entrance toward a bench, this shot was good because the shot wasn't too cluttered with other stuff in the foreground and background so this allowed the viewer to see only the important images in the footage.

The fourth shot was of the actor walking and then sitting on a bench ,and receiving a phone call to meet up with his friend. This shot didn't go well at first because the camera couldn't fit the actor and the scenery in the frame. but after a few takes I managed to get it right and the shot looked really good.

In the fifth shot the actor is walking toward some steps toward a park which is behind the college, this shot was ok but it didn't look as good as I thought it would be in the storyboard.

In the sixth shot the actor is walking up some more steps towards the park, this shot was ok but it didn't look as good as I thought it would be in the storyboard. And it needed to be edited a lot because there were too many people walking through the shot at first but when I tried it a second time only the actor walked through the shot.

In the seventh shot is only of the actor legs walking I decided to use this shot type because it shows that the actor is moving but it doesn't show the entire actor, this shot went well when I shot it because you could see only the actors legs but not the background the actor was walking in front of so you didn't know where the actor was.

In the eighth shot the actor is sitting on a bench waiting for their friend, this shot was good because the shot wasn't cluttered with other people walking in the foreground and background so this allowed the viewer to see only the important images in the footage.

Evaluation for my radio Jingle

For my Radio Jingles I had to create three different types which were a radio news jingle, a show promo and a show ident. To create these three jingles I used a program called soundbooth,I found the program easy to use because it allowed me to use the pieces of music that I had chosen to use. Each jingle had to be 30 seconds long so that you could get the feeling for the different types.

For my Radio Ident I used Black Eyed Peas I Gotta Feeling as the music for the background whilst I recorded my voice introducing the show which was SNC Live! I had a few problems when trying to record my show ident because there was too much background noise so I had to keep trying to record it till I had a good enough recording. But it wasn’t all bad though the good points were that it sounded ok when I had finished it and the volume for both the voice and the background music was at a volume that sounded good through the speakers. If I had to do the show ident again then I would make sure that when I record my voice that it wouldn’t be drowned out by the other background noises.

For my Show Promo I used some music that had a steady but rhythmic beat to it so that it would fit well with my voice which I had recorded earlier. I think that my show promo was good but that it could have been better if I had some more music to use so that it sounded more rhythmic. The main good points about my show promo were that it could with a few tweaks become a good promo that I could have used. If I had to do my show promo again then I would gather some more music to use as my backing music so that it would sound better.

For my News Jingle I used music that had a beat to it that sounded like news beat but so that it still had a beat to it that would catch other people’s attention and get them to listen to the news stories. I think that my News jingle was good because it sounded like a news jingle and it would catch people’s attention. But there were some bad points such as when my recording of my voice was placed over the news jingle you couldn’t hear what I was saying because the jingles volume was to high so I had to lower the volume so that you could hear my voice over the jingle but not to low that you couldn’t hear the jingle. If I had to do my radio jingle again then I would make my voice sound a lot more commanding over the jingle so that it would sound better.

Overall I think that all three of my radio jingles were good but that if I had the chance I would do this task again and put some more music and voice on to the tracks.

This is another image that i took using my pin-hole camera i think that this image is fairly good but i think that the exposure was took long and that it ruined the image

This is one of my images which is of suffolk college that I took using my pin-hole camera i think that this is one of my better images because it isn't to dark.
Photography and Pinhole Cameras

Photography

Is the process, activity and art of creating still images or moving pictures by recording radiation on a sensitive medium, such as a photographic film, or an electronic sensor. Light patterns emitted or reflected from objects activate a sensitive chemical or electronic sensor during a timed exposure, usually through a photographic lens in a device known as a camera that also stores the resulting imagery.

Pinhole-Cameras

A pinhole camera is the most basic form of being able to capture an image using photographic paper.A pinhole camera is a very simple camera with no lens and a single very small aperture which captures images using photographic paper. It is a light-proof box painted black on the inside with a small hole in one side of the box, which is opposite the photographic paper. Light from a scene passes through this single point and projects an inverted image on the side of the box which has the photographic paper on. Cameras using small apertures, and the human eye in bright light both act like a pinhole camera, the smaller the hole, the sharper the image, but the dimmer the projected image. Optimally, the size of the aperture should be 1/100 or less of the distance between it and the screen. A pinhole camera's shutter is usually manually operated because of the lengthy exposure times, and consists of a flap of some light-proof material to cover and uncover the pinhole. Typical exposures range from 5 seconds to hours depending if the image is indoor or outdoors.

My Pin-hole Camera

Monday

On Monday 29th September 2009 I made my pin-hole camera using a cardboard box, some black paint, some tin foil, a pin and masking tape. First I painted the inside of my box black so that no light could bounce off the wall of the box and influence the image produced by the aperture, next I had to wait for it to dry (which seemed to take forever), then I cut out the hole for the aperture which was 2cm across and 2cm down so that it wasn’t to big or to small. Next over the aperture I put a piece of foil that I had cut out which was enough to cover the aperture completely finally I put a pin hole through the foil which I had secured to the box so that it was opposite the photographic paper.

Wednesday

On Wednesday 30th September 2009 I took my pin-hole camera out and took some pictures of things from indoors and outdoors. The first picture I took was of a table with some people sitting around it which I think come out better than the other pictures that I took. The next picture I took was of the Suffolk New College building which I think looks good but I think that if I had exposed the photographic paper for longer then it would have looked better. The last photos I took didn’t turn out as I hoped because they came out completely black and so I decided not to put them on the blog because they wouldn’t have looked very good.

WELCOME

On my blog there will be some images of different things taken using a pinhole camera, some evidence of video work, and some radio audio work
